(8x+6)-(x+4)

lets just focus on the side of the equation after the negative for now..

first, distribute the negative...


-(x+4) \\ -x-4

now lets add this back to the original...


8x+6 - x -4

add like terms...


7x+2

and there we have it fully simplified!
