I have a question about ionization energy.

Ionization energy means energy required to remove an electron. So I think the element with high ionization energy will be more likely to lose electron, but actually it acts in the opposite way. An electron with high ionization energy is less likely to remove electron.

Can you explain more about it?

Thank you.

ionization energy is the measure of the extend to which the nucleus attracts the outermost electron
if ionization energy us high than force of attraction Is high so it is not easy to remove and vice versa .
hope you understand.....
