it depends on what the figure is. you could use different theorems such as side angle side, side side side, angle angle side, congruent parts of congruent triangles are congruent (CPCTC), or hypotenuse leg (these work for triangles). for quadrilaterals you could find if the object is parallel or similar and work from there
