What is the difference between a genotype and a phenotype?

An organism's genotype is the genes that it carries, an organisms phenotype is its observable characteristics.

A phenotype is a physical, OBSERVABLE trait, whereas a genotype is purely genetic and unoticable to the naked eye, such as blood type.
