In 1885, Claude Bernard’s gave the concept of physiologically constant internal environment. He was the first to give stress on the importance of biological regulation of the “milieu interieur”. In 1912, Henry Barbour (a student of Yale University) was successful in finding that hypothalamus, which is a structure in the brain has the ability to thermoregulation.

Homeostasis is a property of an organism or system that  allows its to maintain the controlled parameters within normal ranges. Henry Barbour contributed to the understanding of this concept by his delineation of the reactions of the temperature of the body. This is in line with the same concept that was initially proposed by Claude Bernard.
