Lawrence is 54 years old, and he notices that now he cannot eat as much as he did when he was in his thirties without gaining weight. why is this?

your basal metabolic rate drops roughly one to two percent per decade.

When the body becomes older, the metabolism slows down. Meaning, when you eat something for example a cheeseburger, the body cant break down the food as it normally could and then the body stores it as fat.
