How do I solve for y in the equation 2(3/4)+y=4?

Yea the other person is right.. the answer is Y= 2.5 or 5/2 or 2 1/2

2* .75 + y = 4
1.5 + y = 4
Subtract 1.5 From Each Side
Y = 2.5 Or 2 1/2
