The Patriot is a 2000 war film directed by Roland Emmerich, written by Robert Rodat, and starring Mel Gibson, Chris Cooper, and Heath Ledger. Education in the southern colonies is portrayed as very backwards, showing inhabitants to be extremely supportive of King George and against war with Great Britain.
Hope this helps!
