How can we see the colors of visible light?

the object absorbs some of the light and reflects it to your eyes

The whole spectrum of visible light is shone through a prism, which then the wavelengths reflect colors of the rainbow. The way that they appear that way is because objects reflect that color according to the size of the wavelengths.
