There are fewer federal appeal courts than federal district courts because the courts of appeals are responsible for judging only the appeals from the decisions from the federal district courts. The possibilities of appeals are fewer so which means that there are needed more federal district courts than appeal courts. There are 94 nation district or trial courts while there are 13 appellate courts below the US Supreme Court.
