An abiotic factor is a non living chemical or physical component in an ecosystem. Examples of this would be water chemistry, sunlight, moisture, or temperature.

Biotic factors are all the living components of an ecosystem. Examples include organisms making and eating food, producing and consuming waste, and any other interaction the organisms do having to do with the reproduction and survival of every species.
