The wall beneath the window had the height of 2 2/3 feet and the height of just the window measured 2 3/4 feet. How long do the drapes have to be?

The drapes have to be 5 5/12. All you have to do is add the factions together because the drapes have to cover the window to the floor.

Answer:

5(5)/(12)

Explanation:

To find the lengths of the drapes, you have to add the height of the window to the height of the wall beneath the window. After that, to add the fractions together, you have to find a common denominator, to be able to add them together.

2(2)/(3)+2(3)/(4)\\\\=(8)/(3)+(11)/(4) \\\\=(8)/(3)*(4)/(4) +(11)/(4) *(3)/(3) \\\\=(32)/(12) +(33)/(12) \\\\=(65)/(12) =5(5)/(12)
