The town of Jericho has a very well known biblical history due to the fact that it is mentioned several times in the bible. Its fame came about when the Israelites under Joshua attacked it, thus becoming the first town to be invaded by Israel.

The Israelites completely destroyed the town and according to the bible, it was abandoned after that. Answer C is the correct choice because Jericho was a very small town, about a few football fields in size, and with a population of a couple of thousands. Its people were mainly farmers who grew their crops in the banks of the Nile river.

Recent archaeological discoveries have shown that the town was surrounded by a stone wall built by the villagers.
