All you have to do is add 1/2 and 3/9 together.
try to find the common denominator or the bottom part. Then add the numerators or the top numbers and keep the bottom numbers the same.

9/9 = 1, so what is 9/9 - 4/9 you ask? 3/9
9/9- 4/9= 3/9. ps the part of the fraction on the left is the top part of the fraction.
