Readers typically  expect the narrator to be stable, certain and honest. For example, if a narrator admits that they lied previously and told the reader that the reader would not be able to take them seriously for the rest of the story.

The readers expect the storyteller to tell the whole story truthfully giving all the necessary details to come to reasonable conclusions.
