So the Estates General was a meeting held between the Three Estates, the first estate is clergy, the second estate are the nobles, and the third is the common people. Part of the biggest problem was there was much more of the common people than the clergy and the nobles but all of them got the same representation, meaning they all got the same amount of votes even though the common people represented more people. Generally the clergy and the nobles would want the same thing so they would vote for something that benefited only them and the common people would want something different but could not do anything about it since they had the same amount of votes
