I don't remember why they joined the war, but They joined on April 6th, 1917. They Fought With the Allies, Which had Britain, France, And Russia.

The sinking of the Lusitania was one such event along with the general German use of undersea boats (U-Boats) They joined the Allies in April 1917, after ~3 years of struggling to stay neutral.
