How would you describe a 'passive' and an 'active' voice? We've been given two pieces of writing and one if in a passive voice, the other is in an active voice and we have been asked to re-write both in the opposite of the voice it is already in.

How would you describe a 'passive' and an 'active' voice?

A passive voice is whenever you make the object of an action the subject of the sentence you are writing. (Ex: Why was the road crossed by the chicken?)

An active voice is whenever you make the subject of the sentence doing the verb's action. (Ex: The chicken crossed the road.)
