The idea of the digestive system taken as a compartmentalized structure system, comes from the fact that the digestive tract is designed to protect all the organs that involve the processes described above and many others like crushing and breaking food for an easier digestion. This "compartment" makes a secure shelter where all the stages of digestion are developed
