Capital crimes are more serious crimes such as serial killing and homicide.Infamous crimes are for scandals. From Merriam-Webster Dictionary

A capital crime is a dangerous and huge crime, like a homicide, etc. A capital crime is when the person who committed it gets a punishment of death (sometimes). An infamous crime is when the person guilty is not believed. (felony).
