According to the Richter scale, a reading of 2.0 would cause no damage, as opposed to a reading of 7.0, which would cause serious damage.

2.0 would cause some to feel very slight motion, with no building damage.
7.0 would cause significant damage to buildings, even well-built structures would be damaged, could collapse a number of buildings.
