The British British East India Tea Company was a law passed by Parliament that sold tea in the colonies at an unusually low price! And so, Parliament thought the colonists would buy the East India tea since it was cheaper even if it did include tax. Butttt this law hurt colonial merchants! Since they had to pay the tax on the more expensive teas they both imported and sold.
So the merchants became worried and began to boycott which affected the company since the colonists didn't allow British tea ships to enter the large city ports. So obviously the company would lose money.
