Fidel Castro sparked a revolution in Cuba that ended the leader ship of General Fulgencio Batista.

After legal means failed to remove Batista, Castro with a rebel group that gradually grew to 800 men, began to carry out guerilla warfare against the government and with the help of growing numbers of guerillas throughout the Cuban islands, won a string of victories and waged a propaganda war at the same time, eventually causing Baptista to flee the country, leaving Castro the undisputed leader of Cuba.
