What route did english crusaders take to the holy land? And why?

During the Crusading Era, there were 2 main routes that were followed by outgoing knights and pilgrims. Before 1200 A.D, knights leaving western Europe would travel through the Rhineland in Germany, then head south through the Kingdom of Hungary
