From your reading, why do you think President Roosevelt believed America needed to expand its realm of influence?

It was time for the United States to take charge of world affairs.
The expansion of territory required more control of its affairs.
He believed it would make America far richer and important.
There were too many other nations telling the U.S. what to do.
