The nerve cells in the human nervous system seldom undergo mitosis. Based on this information, explain why complete recovery from injuries to the nervous system usually doesn't occur.

in different tissues ie skin tissue, recovery is possible due to the cell's ability to divide constantly. new cells simply replace the dead ones and heal the injury. neurons divide very rarely, because they are highly specialized cells, so that they are not able to replace the dead. the injury is unable to recover.
