The statement is False.

Calcium carbonate is used to remove sulfur dioxide gases. This is done to remove the harmful gas after combustion of fuel. The calcium carbonate is reacted with sulfur dioxide to form calcium sulfate. This combination can be used to make plasterboard which can be used for lining interior walls. This techniques converts harmful waste product into useful product.
