The program is known as the Green Revolution or the Third Agricultural Revolution.

This program focused on developing farming techniques that would increase efficiency on farms all over the world. Experts in this area researched and studied the effects of technology and different farming techniques in order to better understand what can be improved in the field. Ultimately, the information they gathered resulted in increased agricultural production on a global scale.

The green revolution (or "the third agricultural revolution"). It consisted mainly in the development of new species of grains (HYVs - high yielding varieties or DRV - disease resistant variety) and the further development of pesticides. Coupled with a further mechanisation and industrialisation of farming techniques, the green revolution provided food for millions of people in poor countries, saving them from starvation.
