Because b=a+5, we can substitute “a+5” in for “b” in the equation.

(b-a)^4
((a+5)-a)^4

Simplification, as follows:

((a+5)-a)^4
(5)^4 the a’s cancel
625

The value of (b-a)^4 when a+5=b is 625.
