United States
- The US created the Truman Doctrine and Marshall Plan in which they gave economic aid to European countries after World War II. This was supposed to increase their allies and influence in Europe. Along with this, it was supposed to limit the power of the Soviet Union in the Eastern Hemisphere.

Soviet Union
- The Soviet Union responded to America's laws by creating the Warsaw Pact. This military alliance was created in case the Soviet Union went to war with the US and their allies.
