When others in Europe were hesitant to trade with Muslims in Egypt, what did Venice decide to do?

Venice jumped in and took control of most of the trading by storm. They made deals with Mamluks first and later with the Ottomans who controlled the region and since nobody would trade with them, Venice decided to and its wealth and power increased extremely fast and Venice became one of the strongest powers in Europe because of this.
