Bioaccumulation is the process in which there is increase in the concentration of pollutants in an organism at the top of a food chain. Bioaccumulation occurs when non-biodegradable pollutants such as chemical enter into an organism and the organism is unable to break down or excrete the chemical. The chemical then continues to accumulate until it eventually becomes deadly to the living organism.
