Why didn't the colonist want to pay taxes

The colonist that didn't want to pay taxes were unhappy with Britain charging taxes on them without there permission.The Americans who didn't like Britain's taxes started using this slogan: "no taxation without representation.", because they could protest against Britain (too far away)!
