The slit lamp biomicroscope is an instrument that enables the observer to view binocularly the conjunctiva, sclera, cornea, iris, anterior chamber, lens, and anterior portion of the vitreous. This instrument provides a magnified image and gives detailed screening of the eye. The slit lamp consists of four important parts which are viewing arm, illuminating arm, patient positioning frame and the base.
