Step One
Put f(x) into g(x). This means wherever you see an x in g(x) you put f(x)
g(x) = x - 3
g( f(x) ) = f(x) - 3
g( f(x) ) = x/2 - 3

Step Two
When you know what g(f(x)) you now put an 8 wherever you see an x.
Find g(f(8)) = x/2 - 3
g(f(8)) = 8/2 - 3
g(f(8)) = 4 - 3
g(f(8)) = 1
