The sector model or Hoyt model was developed by urbanists Homer Hoyt in 1939. He tried to offer an explanation about the way cities grew. He said that in the middle om this concentric model was downtown or the business center. To the right side of the center were the Transportation and industry. On the other side, next to the center, was the low-class residential. followed by middle class residential. On the outer of the model, occupying a small fragment of the total and connected to the center, was the high-class residential.
