So we start from 35 pounds.
In the first month, the cat ate 10.25 pounds.
So 35 - 10.25 pounds equals how many pounds were left int he first month.
35 - 10.25 = 24.75 pounds

So now there are 24.75 pounds in the bag.
In the second month, the cat eats another 10.25 pounds
So 24.75 - 10.25 = how many pounds were left after both months.
24.75 - 10.25 = 14.5
14.5 pounds were left at the end of the two months.
