I believe the answer is: cognitive consistency

cognitive consistency refers to a situation when people do not have any form of contradicting beliefs/point of view.
For most people, not having
cognitive consistency usually resulted in mental discomfort from the fear of being rejected by a certain social group or the guilt from being hypocritical.
