Hey there! :)

We are given two equations :

Equation 1 is : 2x + y = -3

Equation 2 is : 4x + 2y = 10

We need to multiply ALL of equation #1 by 2 so that both equations have "2y" in them. We need to do this because we're essentially crossing out all of the like variables.

Equation 1 : 2(2x + y = -3)

Simplify.

4x + 2y = -6

Now, we'll call this new equation equation #3.

We now have equations #2 & #3.

Equation 2 : 4x + 2y = 10
Equation 3 : 4x + 2y = -6

Subtract the equations from one another.

Notice how the x's, y's, and regular numbers are all lined up to one another. Using that, we can very simply do this :

4x - 4x = 0

2y - 2y = 0

10 - (-6) = 16

Thus giving us this :

0 + 0 = 16

0 = 16

So, our answer to this overall system of equations is No solutions!

~Hope I helped!~
