The peripheral nervous system (PNS) consists of nerves that transmit impulses back and forth between the central nervous system, the skeletal muscles, and the skin.
The PNS consists of the nerves and ganglia that are located outside the brain and spinal cord (CNS). The main function of the PNS is the connection between the brain and spinal cord and the rest of the body.
