The ribcage of salmon fish is made up of light weight bones which are nothing but series of interlocked disks. The ribcage bones give shape to the salmon’s body as they are curved in shape. Also these bones protect the internal organs .Salmon’s fins and tail are made up of bone like spines. Bone prevents the up and down movement of the fish.

There are basically two types of fish based on their skeleton system: Bony (skeleton made up of bone) Fishes and Cartilaginous (skeleton made up of cartilage) fishes . Sharks, hagfish and Lamprey are all Cartilaginous fishes
