Should a society shoulder the costs for medical assistance and care for lifestyle choices such as using fertility drugs, smoking, drinking, or sunbathing?

I do not agree that the society will shoulder the cost for medical assistance and care for lifestyle choices because they are preventable diseases. People in the society must be responsible for themselves by living with healthy lifestyles. If they pay for their own medical care, they will be discourage to consume “sin goods” and choose to live healthy.

Moreover, the monetary incentive will be spend to other projects such as shelter for homeless people or building recreational parks for the benefit of the majority instead of funding people that do not care for themselves.
