The answer is TOP 10 PERCENT. In an endeavor to give the best students from poor and minority public school districts and equal footing in university admissions, the legislature ratified a 1997 law that assured automatic admission to state universities for a high school graduate who completed in the top 10 percent of his or her class. In addition, Lawyer General Dan Morales in 1997 inferred the Hopwood presiding as barring all Texas universities from by means of race or ethnicity as a privileged factor in admissions, grants and other student platforms.
