How do you think the right to veto rules or laws helped the common people of rome

Commoners were the majority while those who ruled were mostly from aristocratic families and were nobility who were in the minority. If the senate would decide to make a rule or a law that was perceived as one that would harm the common people then it would be vetoed and it would protect the common people from exploitation.
