It is called "ego" by Freud.

As per Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic hypothesis, there are three sections to the identity: the ego, the id and the superego. The ego is the mental segment of the identity that is spoken to by our cognizant decision-making procedure. The ego keeps us from following up on our essential desires.
