The solar system can be shown in a diagram with the sun at the center and the planets with elliptical orbits arrayed concentrically around the sun and in which they are connected by the invisible force of gravity. Galileo and Copernicus were the first astronomers to determine that the sun not the earth is at the center of our universe and Kepler figured out that the planets have elliptical orbits.
