I believe the answer is: to make it easier to raise funds for expansion

In a sole proprietor , the ownership of the company is held only by one person. This make it harder for the company to make an expansion due to the limited amount of capital.

By creating a partnership, gaining capital that needed for expansion would become easier even though the original owner need to sacrifice some percentage of the ownership.
