The autotrophic plants and bacteria need sunlight for preparing their food. This process is called photosynthesis. It takes within the chloroplast organelle of the cell. Inside the chloroplast the energy from the sunlight helps in the chemical reaction between the carbon dioxide and water to form glucose and oxygen as products. This energy is utilised in spitting the bond between the water molecules that drives the reaction forward.
