What happens to hormone levels during ovulation, and why is this important?

Hey! :)

Your ovaries make progesterone after ovulation. The most important role of progesterone is to get your uterus ready so that it can receive, implant, and support a fertilized egg during pregnancy. Progesterone levels are usually low during the first stage (follicular stage) of your menstrual cycle.
