The case was about segregation.

McLaurin wanted to get a doctorate but the University of Oklahoma denied him education on the base of Oklahoma law which prohibited the whites and blacks from getting education together. The court ruled, because the University of Oklahoma failed to provide him separate but equal facilities they violated his Constitutional rights.
